Frequently asked questions

How does Smocky detect the image format?

It reads the file signature from the image bytes instead of trusting the filename, browser MIME label, or pasted Data URI label.

Which image formats can I encode?

The detector recognizes PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, SVG, AVIF, BMP, and ICO. Preview support still depends on the browser you use.

Why is the Base64 result larger than the image?

Base64 stores every three source bytes in four ASCII characters. Padding makes the exact increase vary for very small files.
